Great gig at Chorus in Lausanne with my quartet of Allen Farnham, Dean Johnson, and Tim Horner and off to Hamburg the next day. Arrived in Hamburg and the rep from Yamaha corp. Akihiro Shinozaki who was waiting for us at the Hamburg airport with a set of vibes that Yamaha was providing for the German leg of our tour. From there we got in our rental cars with all gear and bags and drove to Rostock Germany. There we played a great two sets at Ursprung in Rostock. The crowd was fabulous. Very attentive and supportive by buying CD’s. The next day we played a concert in Hamburg at a little venue named Hadley’s, and sold a lot of CD’s to a crowd that was very loud while we were playing but very enthusiastic. There were around 5 vibraphonists from the Hamburg area that came out to see us. Next day flight to Basel CH where we rented a car and drove to Schaffhausen for a concert on Thursday, and then back to Basel for Friday afternoon workshop for 20 very eager high school students, and then played 2 sets Friday and Saturday night at The Bird’s Eye Jazz Club. It was packed for both shows on both nights. The city of Basel is a very beautiful place. The shopping is incredible; there is a lot of music happening there. The conservatory is very good. We all arrived safely on March 7th after 8 concerts, and I was in Italy for 5 days at the beginning before joining Allen, Dean, and Tim. Great tour! Great Music. The band never sounded better. Very seasoned! I had a great time. So thrilled to be addressing the music at this level, with this band for the last 6 years. Staying together has been a great idea. Can’t wait for the next tour.
